About Our School Program

The School of the Ozarks was founded in 1906 with the purpose of providing a Christian education for the children of the Ozarks region who were without financial means to obtain a Christian education.  That small elementary school transitioned into a high school, added a junior college, and finally became College of the Ozarks, a nationally recognized liberal arts college.  College of the Ozarks reestablished School of the Ozarks as a classical Christian laboratory school which opened its doors in August of 2012.

About Our Community & Mission

School of the Ozarks is a laboratory school of College of the Ozarks. The mission has been the same since 1906: "To provide the advantages of a Christian education for youth of both sexes, especially those found worthy but without sufficient means to procure such training." School of the Ozarks seeks to cultivate Christian leaders who influence the culture at large because of their pursuit of excellence, determination to stand for truth, and willingness to live out their faith.

What We Are Known For In The Community

School of the Ozarks and College of the Ozarks are known for offering a Christ-centered education to those to whom He referred as "the least of these." Our school is unique in that we charge no tuition.  Families are asked to pay a modest amount in fees to cover books, lunches, and access to technology, but these fees are reduced according to family financial need.  All students contribute to the care and upkeep of the buildings by performing age-appropriate chores. The value of hard work in attaining one's goals is emphasized throughout the program.

About The Area We Serve

We serve the Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas Ozarks region.  Our area is a popular tourist destination for families who enjoy the natural beauty of the Ozark Mountains, lakes, fishing, hiking, award-winning theme parks, and music shows.
