Lower Primary School Teaching Position

Providing instruction in math, science, grammar & humanities

Job Description

The teacher draws forth the many fields of knowledge from each subject, forming students in the trivium of grammar, logic, and rhetoric, and directing them toward the transcendentals of truth, goodness, and beauty. The teacher cultivates a true sense of number and a love for God’s creation. The teacher serves students and families through clear communication, encouragement, and loving sacrifice, and serves the school through thoughtful lesson planning and lively, ordered instruction, to cultivate wonder and spark curiosity in the student. The teacher instructs by introducing, facilitating, modeling, coaching, and guiding, and crafts curriculum with careful attention to both the subject and the nature of the child. The teacher governs the classroom with loving discipline, seeking the good and formation of each student.

Engage with families
Communicate effectively
Give timely feedback on academic progress
Give timely feedback on discipline

Duties/Responsibilities

Create an annual mapping for all courses of instruction
Submit lesson plans weekly and timely to the Academic Dean and Head of School
Consistently assess students for progress through approved means
Study all material deeply to become a “living curriculum”
Facilitate deep study of various subjects in the classroom
Animate material to engage students by cultivating wonder, sparking curiosity, and creating a spirit of inquiry within the classroom
Coach students in a tailored approach to education helping them invest the talent God has given
Enter grades within 48 hours for timely feedback
Attend all designated faculty trainings
Attend all designated faculty meetings
Observe struggling students and make recommendations to the head of school for suggested learning goals
Foster a well ordered atmosphere through classroom discipleship
Maintain a well organized classroom
Ensure students are active learners both mentally and physically
Attend a 3-day intensive summer bootcamp training
Attend the full week of teacher in-service training the week prior to the first day of school

 

 

Qualifications

A heart for the gospel
A heart for children
A robust background in humanities and willingness to study deeply and intentionally
A deep understanding of numbers and willingness to study deeply and intentionally
A love of God’s creation that is communicated effectively
A desire to train and equip the next generation
A natural intuition in the classroom
Flexible in Delivery Methods.
Able to Lead a small classroom in a loving and disciplined manner.
Able to patiently mentor through discipleship
*Classical Liberal Arts Education or equivalent experience

*Applicants that do not have a robust Liberal Arts Education are welcome to apply but must be willing to engage in rigorous training to prepare for the first academic year.
