Physical Education Teacher Job Description
Position Type: Full-Time
Position Summary:
Support the mission and vision of Summit Classical Christian School to cultivate generations of joyful disciples of Christ, rooted in Truth, to the glory of God, particularly through physical education that promotes stewardship of the body, teamwork, discipline, and Christ-centered character.
Essential Functions:
Relate to students by loving them with the love of Christ, encouraging them to begin and/or develop a relationship with God through Christ, and challenging them to love God with all their heart, mind, soul, and strength.
Instruct students in physical education by promoting physical fitness, motor skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a Christ-centered environment.
Manage classes by setting clear expectations for behavior, establishing consistent routines, and promoting self-discipline based on Biblical principles.
Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate lessons that develop physical skills, coordination, and a lifelong appreciation for health and fitness.
Teach and model good sportsmanship, perseverance, humility, and respect for others.
Ensure a safe environment for all students by maintaining equipment, supervising activities closely, and following proper safety protocols.
Organize and lead structured activities, games, and exercises that are inclusive and appropriately challenging for all skill levels.
Assess student participation, effort, and progress, and provide feedback as appropriate.
Maintain accurate attendance and any required records.
Communicate clearly with parents regarding student progress or concerns when necessary.
Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher.
Full-time teachers should arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of the school day and remain at school 30 minutes after.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field preferred.
Teaching or coaching experience preferred.
Clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and wholehearted agreement with the school’s statement of faith.
Commitment to classical Christian education and the discipleship of students.
Ability to lead physical activities with enthusiasm, organization, and attentiveness to student safety.
Schedule
Full-time teaching positions are available for the 2026–2027 school year.
Salary Range
$50,000 to $61,200
