Long Term Subsitute Kindergarten Teacher

Position Description

Bethel Classical Academy is searching for a long-term substitute teacher to assume the responsibilities of our Kindergarten teacher, who will be going on maternity leave at the end of December 2024.  This position may lead to a possibility of assuming a full-time faculty position in AY 2025-2026. Candidates should be passionate about Jesus Christ and teaching and capable of expressing that passion in hands-on work with students.

BCA is looking for someone to start as soon as possible to co-teach with the head teacher until she leaves for maternity leave. This time allows for the substitute teacher as well as the students to adjust to new situations and circumstances.

General Responsibilities:

• Create a warm, engaged and productive classroom environment for children
• Maintain the classroom’s tidiness
• Approach classroom instruction and student interactions from a Christian worldview
• Plan, create and implement daily and weekly lesson plans to help students meet the learning goals for students
• Prepare materials and equipment needed to carry out lessons
• Work with students individually, in small groups, and in large groups
• Able to evaluate student work and performance
• Build partnership with parents through proactive communication
• Attend all parent conferences, training sessions, and faculty meetings
• Positively support the school’s policies and practices and work collaboratively in a professional organization
• Adhere to biblical standards in all areas of conduct

Responsibilities:

• Previous classroom experience preferred
• Great verbal and written communication skills
• Passion for working with children
• Treat all children with dignity, respect, and patience with a professional attitude
• Ability to build relationships with students, parents, and other teachers
• Bachelor’s degree required
