Position Description
New Covenant School (Anderson, SC) is accepting applications for the Middle School Humanities position in our Upper Academy 6th-8th grade.
A New Covenant Middle School Humanities teacher will be familiar with the early years of classical education, as well as the teachings of Charlotte Mason and how those early years begin to mature into more analytical and age appropriate skills developed into the middle school years.
They will enjoy using their skills to create an engaging, curious, and adventurous classroom where students can pursue learning a variety of content including:
Literary inquiry through novel studies like: Of Plymouth Plantation, Treasure Island, Huckleberry Finn, The Hobbit, The Red Badge of Courage, The Hiding Place, The Chronicles of Narnia and other classic literature.
Timeline and Narrative approach to teaching History with Story of The World by Susan Wise Bauer Middle Ages to Modern History & South Carolina /United States History.
Grammar and Writing with Analytical Grammar and sentence diagramming as well as the Lost Tools of Writing.
The practice of Narration.
Qualified candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree, a passion for teaching, a love for students, an understanding of education as virtue formation and the ability to demonstrate a clear commitment to our mission and distinctives– Classical, Christian, Covenantal.
