Position Description

Spiritual Formation

  • Maintain a Christian testimony and evidence of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, been spiritually baptized, and commit to biblical standards for all conduct (sexual, interpersonal, etc.) on and off campus.
  • Demonstrate personal and devotional habits and practices such as Bible study, prayer and be a member of a New-Testament, evangelical church in the local community and attend regularly.
  • Accept and live out the Baptist Faith and Message Statement (2000) and be familiar with general theological beliefs of Southern Baptists.
  • Show oneself in all respects to be a model of good works. In teaching, practice integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about them (Titus 2:7- 8).
  • Implement biblical principles in dealing with students, parents, staff/administration, including resolution of all conflicts through application of the Matthew 18 principle.
  • Show support for the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their child’s education and assist them in the task.
  • Encourage students to accept God’s gift of salvation and to grow in their faith and embrace the reality of their identity in Christ.
  • Model Christ-like character and cultivate a gospel-centered classroom atmosphere.
  • Lead daily devotions, prayer, and integrate biblical principles across all areas of instruction.
  • Encourage the development of virtues such as attentiveness, obedience, and gratitude.

Classical and Developmentally Appropriate Instruction

  • Plan and implement lessons using classical methodologies (e.g., narration, repetition, music, nature study) appropriate for young learners.
  • Incorporate hands-on, play-based activities that align with child development best practices.
  • Foster a love for truth, beauty, and goodness through curriculum and classroom culture.

Compliance with VPK Standards

  • Ensure adherence to Florida’s VPK program requirements, including curriculum implementation and student assessment.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by the Florida Department of Education and the Early Learning Coalition.
  • Participate in required VPK training and professional development opportunities.

Classroom Management and Environment

  • Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Implement consistent routines and behavior management strategies that promote respect and responsibility.
  • Monitor and document student progress in spiritual, social, emotional, and academic domains.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Communicate effectively, timely and professionally with parents, colleagues, and administration.
  • Partner with families to support each child’s development and learning.
    Participate in school events, faculty meetings, and collaborative planning sessions.
